The Dama Dama Element - series of work: Slipcast Porcelain, Printmaking & Painting
Picture
Picture
The ‘Dama Dama Dame’ are slip cast porcelain sculptures based on figurative elements & a beautiful Nordic coffee cup!
Light, white, lines, forms, design, the Dama Dama (means Fallow Deer) also inform the works as does a sense of identity, culture & tradition.
The are inspired by elements in life & on feminine beauty. Delicate & all lined up they also bring notions of the beauty of (Fallow) Deers; Dama Damas. A ‘red’ (orange) tread binds it all together  & ads some contrast.

The decoration, of images & text, on the figures ads a sense of identity to the works: The images are off Elder flowers & of Fallow Deer inspired elements - bringing memories of long summer nights in Denmark/Scandinavia. The decorations were first created as etchings. The plates were then inked up & printed onto paper before being created as Decals for ceramics. The poems/rimes & words on the figures - were also printed as Decals).  The poems are as follows:
